Can my computer run Assassin’s Creed Odyssey?
By Cliff Henjum Oct 5, 2018
Ubisoft’s popular action role-playing series, Assassin’s Creed, brings players the greatest freedoms with their role-playing choices in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. On top of choosing the gender of the main character, players can choose whom they pursue romantic interests with, follow various quests down multiple paths, and all of these decisions can culminate in a variety of different endings. After beginning your journey as an ordinary mercenary, you will soon find yourself choosing between fighting for either Athens and the Delian League or the Peloponnesian League led by Sparta. In addition to all of these in-game decisions that players get to choose, they also get to choose the graphics settings they play with (assuming their PC meets the system requirements). The minimum requirements are essentially unchanged since Assassin’s Creed Origins, but the recommended requirements made a jump up in video card requirements.
The GeForce GTX 660, Nvidia’s 27th most common video card on CanYouRunIT, is the minimum GPU requirement for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. If your PC is rocking an AMD GPU, it needs to be at least a Radeon R9 285 with a solid 2 GB of VRAM. One of these two video cards paired with either an AMD FX-6300 or Intel Core i5-2400 would be enough to run the game on at least low settings. The open-world of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is part of what makes the requirements higher than something like Rainbow Six: Siege, which happens to be built with the same engine, AnvilNext 2.0.
On top of the sheer size of the game, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the most graphically impressive title in its franchise. And in order to fully enjoy the beauty of the landscapes and fighting animations, players will need a powerful computer. If your PC is over the recommended requirements, it is also Virtual Reality ready. That’s right. The GeForce GTX 970/Radeon R9 290 are the same requirements that devices like Oculus Rift and HTC Vive require to run. Even the CPU requirements of a Core i7-3770/AMD FX-8350 are on the steep side for most computers - only about 15% of the Intel CPUs that come through CanYouRunIT are above this mark.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is our most tested game that's also a featured game in today's Steam Summer Sale.
It's currently 50% off which is pretty awesome for a Steam Award winning game (Best Alternate History Award) that's less than a year old.
