Can my PC run Subnautica

By Cliff Henjum August 30, 2019:

Winner of the Fan Favorite Indie Game Award from last year’s Gamers’ Choice Awards, Unknown Worlds Entertainment’s Subnautica is still full of life and picking up new players weekly. In order to dive into this beautiful underwater experience, you are going to need a computer that at least passes the Minimum System Requirements. Subnautica is set on a distant alien planet that is teeming with aquatic life in its vast oceans. After the spaceship called the Aurora is destroyed above the ocean planet 4546B, you take on the role of the lone survivor who must now start a new life in this foreign environment. Prepare to scavenge, explore, build, and collect in this aquatic Minecraft-esque survival game.

Since its release, Subnautica has received an overwhelming amount of Very Positive reviews on Steam. The open world exploration paired with a visually pleasing aesthetic makes for hours of fun for the creative soul. Subnautica has one of the higher pass rates for minimum system requirements compared to a lot of other popular games these days. This is helped by the fact that it officially supports some integrated graphics options - specifically those that are equivalent or more powerful than an Intel HD Graphics 4600. Basically, this means that most GPUs that support DirectX 11 should be able to run Subnautica on at least Low Settings. On top of the low to moderate GPU requirements are the easily passable CPU requirements. Subnautica asks that you have at least an Intel Haswell 2 Core CPU which means you need at least a Core i3-4100 or its AMD equivalent, the FX-6300.

Erase the fear of your game crashing or slowing down as you’re reaching new depths on your explorative dives with a PC that passes the recommended requirements. Subnautica has some fairly low recommended specs so hopefully a lot of gamers can max it out with great frames per second. The recommended GPU is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti or its AMD equivalent so that means that any decent mid to high range video card from the last 10 years should be good to go.
