Can my computer run Warcraft 3 Reforged?

By Cliff Henjum January 29, 2020

Originally released back in 2003, Blizzard has brought back one of its most iconic titles with Warcraft 3 Reforged. It features updated graphics, balance changes, and a heavily requested addition of modern Battle.net features to enable a stronger multiplayer scene. The official release date of Warcraft 3 Reforged (January 28, 2020) came about two years after the original announcement at Blizzcon 2018. The original Warcraft series is the franchise that spawned one of the most played games of all time - World of Warcraft. If you want to play Warcraft 3 Reforged on PC, you’ll be pleased to know that its minimum system requirements are fairly low compared to most modern games these days. A fairly cheap or even an older PC shouldn’t have too much trouble running it.

While the minimum system requirements for Warcraft 3 Reforged are slightly higher than another iconic RTS remake (Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition), a computer with the necessary hardware shouldn’t break the bank too much. For the video card requirement, your PC should have at least a GeForce GTS 450 or a Radeon HD 5750. In addition to the GPU requirement, your CPU should be at least an Intel Core i3-530 or an AMD Phenom II X4 910. Your PC should also have at least 4 GB of RAM if you want to play Warcraft 3 Reforged on at least low to medium settings. If your rig passes all of these tests, you’ll be well on your way to directing Arthas and other heroes on the path to victory.

If you want to battle against the Undead Scourge with the graphics turned all the way up, then your PC should be able to pass the recommended system requirements test. Blizzard’s official recommended system requirements for Warcraft 3 Reforged are significantly higher than its minimum specs which means cheaper and older computers may struggle to pass the test. They make Starcraft 2's requirements seem like a walk in the park. A GeForce GTX 960 or a Radeon R9 280X is necessary to pass the video card test. The CPU requirement is also quite steep - only something as powerful as an Intel Core i5-6400 or an AMD Ryzen 7 1700X will put your system in the green. An industry standard 8 GB of RAM is also required to keep Warcraft 3 Reforged running in top shape.
