Can my PC run Halo: Reach when it comes out?
By Cliff Henjum November 15, 2019:
Originally released on the Xbox 360 way back on September 14, 2010, Halo: Reach is about to make its way to Microsoft Windows on December 3, 2019! Although players do not actually play as the iconic Master Chief, Halo: Reach marks the first game to be released on PC as part of the larger Halo: Master Chief Collection, which makes sense in the universe’s timeline. Due to a collaborative effort, players have 343 Industries and Splash Damage to thank for the development/port of this beloved franchise. In order to be able to play Halo: Reach on PC, you will need a computer that passes the system requirements test. To much surprise, the PC system requirements for Halo: Reach are much lower than a lot of other popular First Person Shooters like Modern Warfare for instance.
Speaking of those low system requirements, the minimum system requirements test for Halo: Reach should be easily passable for a large percentage of PCs (sorry laptop users - no integrated GPU support as of now). The minimum CPU requirement is set at a nice and easy Intel Core i3-550 and the AMD Phenom II X4 960T. Even the GPU requirement is easy to surpass since it’s set at only the GeForce GTS 450 and the Radeon HD 6850 which is about one generation older than the Battlefield 5 GPU requirement. The one requirement that is more in line with other FPS games is the amount of RAM you’ll need: 8 GB. But having hardware that is more or less equivalent to the hardware listed above will only enable you to run the game on low-medium settings. If you want to max those graphics settings out, you will need to also pass the recommended requirements test.
Plenty of action/arena shooters exist on PC nowadays, and most of them (Rainbow Six: Siege for example ) see a decent jump in requirements when moving from minimum to recommended specs. That’s not really the case when looking at the recommended specs for Halo: Reach however. With a GeForce GTX 560 Ti or a Radeon R7 360, your PC will pass the GPU test and be well on its way to playing with those graphics turned up! That’s basically just a one generation jump from the minimum specs. We can see a similar one-ish generation jump when looking at the CPU specs as well. Your computer will only need an AMD FX-4100 or an Intel I7-870 to pass the recommended CPU test. And while the 8 GB of RAM for the minimum was a bit on the higher side, the amount needed remains unchanged when moving up to recommended RAM.
Play Halo: Reach on PC as early as December 3rd, 2019 with any computer that passes the minimum system requirements test.
